Attract cardinals to your yard and enjoy their brilliant red feathers in summer and winter. You'll often find these popular songbirds in pairs and sitting low in trees, shrubs or forage. They like to eat insects, seeds and fruits. To attract cardinals, place feeders with birdseed – especially sunflower seeds – in your yard. Because cardinals nest in trees and shrubs, consider planting trees and shrubs in your yard. Make your yard bird-friendly by providing birds with fresh water in a birdbath. Try using a solar birdbath so that cardinals will have unfrozen water in winter. This helps attract cardinals all year long.
