Indoors and out, Spring Hill Nurseries’ mini rose bush plants thrive in sunny spots.

Our mini rose bush plants from Spring Hill Nurseries bring a touch of unique beauty to your sunny areas. Miniature roses appear so delicate – true miniatures with dwarf buds, blooms, foliage, even thorns – many gardeners fail to realize that these plants are just as much at home outdoors as when sitting indoors in a sunny window. In fact, they should be treated just like their larger-scale relatives – watering, feeding, spraying, pruning, mulching – in proportion, of course, to their size. They bloom over an extended period, providing a touch of unique elegance. One of the most versatile of all perennials, mini rose bush plants make effective borders; are lovely in rockeries; massed in beds; or as a foreground, planted on the sunny side of full-size varieties. They’re also elegant as an edging for walks, stairs or patios. Excellent mixers with other perennials, they can provide foregrounds for taller varieties, or to create floral highlights amidst other mid-size plants.

The key to a thriving mini rose bush is a spot in the full sun, with good drainage and air circulation. Pick spots that receive at least six hours of direct sun, preferably more. For optimum air circulation, keep them away from buildings. The ‘Purple Chariot’ is the first cascading purple rose. It features a profusion of 1½ to 2 inch double blooms that adorn plants that are 12 to 18 inches high all summer. Another striking purple rose variety is the ‘Sugar Plum.’ From late spring to fall, this delectable miniature rose bears semi-double flowers just 1¾ inches wide. Plum-colored buds open to shades of lavender, with white on the base of each petal. The bushes grow 12 to 18 inches high and 18 to 24 inches across. This variety is both disease-resistant and winter hardy. The beautiful red blossoms of ‘Beauty Secret’ are set off by the plant’s dark green foliage. This low-growing, sun-loving rose makes an effective border along walkways and drives. It is also lovely massed in beds or in front of taller roses and shrubs. The hardy, disease resistant plants grow 18 to 36 inches high and 12 to 24 inches wide, with petite 1 to 2 inch blooms enduring all summer into fall. ‘Orange Honey’ has much the same characteristics as ‘Beauty Secret’ except that it blooms in an array of colors from golden honey and orange to pink and red.
