My favorite part of spring Review by Emily - Berwyn, IL
Posted on 2014-05-08

I purchased this 5 years ago. It bloomed in the 3rd and 4th years. I realized early on that I'd chosen a location that wasn't quite big enough, so I risked transplanting it after last year's bloom. Surprisingly, it just kept growing, and it's beginning to bloom more 'sensationally' than ever. And the scent! It's my favorite part of my spring garden.

"I planted this in a half sun/shade spot... took years to see blooms. This is my favorite lilac from the collection we purchased. I should have planted it in full sun, the sensation lilac is a slow grower, but once established the blooms are so worth the wait. The hue of the dark purple and contrasting white trim make it a joy to admire, the bees love it too."

I bought this bush several years ago. It was a twig and I was very worried it may never look as pictured. Now it is the picture and some. Now it is so big I may have to cut it back to get down our walk. I have had people stop and ask what it is. I love it my favorite so beautiful when it blooms!

unimpressive Review by Pat - Spartanburg, SC

"I bought two of these bushes three-going on four years ago. One died the following spring (I accidentally clipped the roots I think). The other has yet to bloom for me, and is a very slow grower. I have done some research that says if it does not get enough cold hours then it will not bloom. I think that I may be too far south. Regardless, I suggest you do your own research and see how lilacs do in your area before ordering these."
