Purple rose plants may be a rare color, but they are plentiful at Spring Hill Nurseries. We carry several types of dainty miniature rose as well as the full size hybrid tea in this unusual color. The ‘Royal Amethyst’ Hybrid Tea boasts fragrant, double blooms in a rare blend of lavender and purple. The plants grow to 3½ to 4 feet high. These vigorous, disease resistant plants are easy to grow and they flower prolifically all through summer. A wonderful addition to your garden is the mini rose. They bloom over an extended period, providing a touch of unique elegance. The plants and flowers appear so delicate – true miniatures with dwarf buds, blooms, foliage, and even thorns. It is easy to forget that these plants are hardy enough for outdoor use. In fact, they should be treated just like the full-size varieties – watering, feeding, spraying, pruning and mulching – in proportion, of course, to their size.

The ‘Purple Chariot’ from Spring Hill Nurseries is one of the first cascading purple rose plants. A profusion of mini 1½ - 2" double blooms adorn these plants all summer. Plant height is about 12 to 18 inches and width is 18 to 24 inches. Another popular variety is the ‘Sugar Plum’ miniature. From late spring to fall, this delectable plant bears semi-double flowers just 1¾ inches wide. The bright plum-colored buds open to shades of lavender, with white on the base of each petal. The bushes grow 12 to 18 inches high and 18 to 24 inches across. These winter hardy plants are disease-resistant. ‘Lavender Lace’ from Spring Hill Nurseries is the very finest of all mini “blue" purple rose plants. Each 1 to 2 inch blossom is smothered with soft lavender-blue petals that retain their unique color. This low-growing, sun-loving plant makes a charming, effective border along walkways and drives. It is also lovely massed in beds or in front of taller roses and shrubs. The hardy, vigorous, disease resistant plants grow 18 to 36 inches high and 12 to 24 inches wide. What’s more, the blooms endure all summer into fall. The flower color is intense and does not fade as most lavenders do. The small size of miniature rose plants makes them suitable for containers and for smaller garden areas. It also makes an attractive, colorful edging or companion plant in a border.
