A large-flowered clematis that boasts an abundance of pale, sky-blue flowers that measure a substantial 4-6" across. They have a fine, silky texture and ruffled edges, giving them a lacy, delicate appearance. In truth, these plants are hardy, vigorous growers that are very versatile in the summertime landscape. Like other clematis varieties, Blue Angel is a vining perennial that looks amazing atop a trellis or pergola, along a fence line or over a garden arbor. Flowers from early summer through early fall. Winter Care:Apply a winter mulch, after the ground freezes, in areas where plants may heave from the ground due to alternate freezing and thawing temperatures. Remove most of the mulch in early spring, but keep 2-3" to keep the ground moist and shaded.
Flower Form:The first flowers to bloom will be 5", semi-double. The reblooming flowers, will likely be single.
Foliage Type:Medium green, simple palmate to pinnate leaves arranged alternately and opposite on the stems.
