Black iris varieties have long held the fascination of Iris lovers and gardeners alike—after all, where else can you find a deep, black-velvet flower outside of this genus? In this collection, you'll enjoy the darkest of the dark. Near-black, or very deep purple irises add lots of drama for beds, borders, or containers. The three iris in this collection are sure to add an energizing presence to any garden.

Planting Instructions: Set rhizome so bottom half is below ground level. Firm well and water thoroughly. Plant where they will get at least 5 hours of sun per day.
Winter Care: Mulch in colder climates and remove in early spring before growth starts.

Growth Rate: Fast once established, approximately 6-8 weeks.

Pruning: Cut foliage back to a 6" fan. Clean plant debris before winter to prevent borers from over wintering. Iris benefit from digging up and dividing every 3-4 years. This will help the health of the iris and promote strong blooming.
Soil Requirement: Well-drained. Quite tolerant of a wide range of soils.
Watering Requirement: Water immediately after planting. For the first year, water regularly without oversaturating the bulbs. Second year on, water only during hot and dry seasons.
