Captain's Choice is a gorgeous amoena class iris with white standards and colored falls. These beautiful bicolor blooms will appear in spring, and then again in late summer. You'll enjoy a large, subtly rounded flower form.

  • Planting Instructions: Set rhizome so bottom half is below ground level. Firm well and water thoroughly. Plant where they will get at least 5 hours of sun per day.
  • Winter Care: Mulch in colder climates and remove in early spring before growth starts.

  • Flower Form: 6" flowers are fan-shaped, with three drooping petals called falls and three upright petals called standards.

  • Pruning: Remove spent flower stems after blooming. In late fall; cut back foliage to 6" fans. Clean plant debris before winter to prevent borers overwintering.
  • Soil Requirement: Well drained preferred. Quite tolerant of a wide range of soils although.
  • Watering Requirement: Average water needs. Water regularly, do not overwater
  • Additional Information: Iris benefit from digging up and dividing every 3-4 years. This will help the health of the iris and promote strong blooming.
