Product Description

Chances are if you're not new to gloriosa lilies, you've probably seen the red and yellow Rothschildiana variety, with recurved exotic blooms on scrambling vines. It is a deciduous, summer-growing tuberous plant originating in Africa and Asia (from China to India). This cultivar, Carsonii, has similar form and cultural preferences, but different colors. Leaning toward a dark purple, often with a mahogany wash, gloriosa Carsonii is a hard to find cultivar that we admire for its special coloration. Interesting when grown among other flowering vines, it adds a dash of the tropics to the border. These flowers are highly variable with some having more of one color than another and an individual amount of petal edge curl. Please note that all Gloriosa lilies are poisonous plants, do not eat under any circumstances.
