Product Description

The appeal of Chocolate Wing lies half in the changing seasonal colors, and half in its usefulness. This Rodger's Flower is wet site tolerant—to the point where you can include it in your water garden or next to a shaded stream. The color feature starts with chocolaty spring foliage. The leaves turn green through summer, under pink flowers that look a lot like an astilbe's feathery plumes—it is, in fact, a good companion plant to astilbe. In fall, the flowers will give way to attractive looking seed heads and the foliage will turn back to coco. The foliage has an intriguing form too—it's palmately compound, so the leaflets all fan out from the same point in a stem, like a buckeye's leaves. Rodgersia pinnata 'Chocolate Wing' PPAF
