A unique color for a clematis, Guernsey Cream's large 5" flowers emerge with pistachio green central bars along each sepal. Each flower fades to creamy white as it matures. It'll bloom in early summer, and can bloom again in late summer with smaller flowers. They are gorgeous against a background of green foliage. While this vine thrives in sunlight, we find the blooms keep their color best when it's protected from the afternoon sun. Although the flowers are big, the plant stays a tidy, moderate size. It's perfect for smaller structures. You could also explore a new kind of clematis display and grow it as a naturalized mound of gorgeous flowers. Clematis
Guernsey Cream Clematis is in the YELLOW pruning category. It blooms best on old wood, but it can also bloom on new wood. Use caution when pruning to retain healthy stems from last season for best flowering. See our Stoplight Pruning Guide for more information.
