Product Description

Kimi'idera is a perfectly-proportioned compact Clematis, but this specimen's true beauty lies in its exceptional coloring. Raised in Japan in 1975, Kimi'idera was not exported from Asia until the late 1980s, and is still rare in the United States. As such, collectors of Japanese Clematis simply must have this gorgeous specimen.

Kimi'idera features lots of color, with wide blue-violet margins and purple-red accents. The pointed, overlapping sepals and a faint nuance of white on white mid rib texture draw the eye to the colorful center. Sharply pointed tips on the sepals contrast with the soft, watercolor hues of the flower, creating a distinctive look. Kimi'idera is beautiful in the mid-border or paired with a taller Clematis for a statement-making arch. You'll love to wake up to this beauty gracing the landscape, and Kimi'idera is also suitable as a container clematis with eventual placement in the garden.

A standout in a mixed bouquet, this Clematis can be arranged with magnolia stems or other dark-foliage cut flowers for a vase to remember. Kimi'idera performs well in dappled sunlight, and is hardy in Zones 4-9. It offers some secondary blooms later in the season. Clematis 'Kimi'idera'?

In our EZ Pruning Guide, this variety is in the YELLOW pruning category. It blooms best on old vine. Use caution when pruning to retain healthy stems from last season for best flowering.
