Tae is a colorful example of Japanese Clematis breeding, and difficult to find in the United States. The coloration of the flowers, with their wide picotee form and lots of nuance, is coveted in Japan. Tae is a beautifully-formed Japanese picotee variety–and it's a dream for collectors of Asian plants as well as Clematis enthusiasts. Deep pink coloring lines the outside of each white sepal, and striking red centers hold attention. An early, large-blooming Clematis, Tae beacons in late spring as a sprawling front-of–border plant. Tae is container-friendly for the first few years. In its early years, train Tae's stems to grow outward, and, when it outgrows the container, plant it in a prize place in the garden and enjoy a springtime of fascinating color. Clematis 'Toltae'
