- Planting Instructions: Slow to emerge in the spring so be careful not to disturb it during early spring clean-up. It will compete successfully with the grasses. Mark its location so that more plants aren't accidentally planted on top of it.

- Flower Form: Milkweed-like blossoms. Flowers about 1/4" across in short umbel-like cymes or clusters.
- Foliage Type: Alternate, lanceolate or oblong, 2-6" long and 1/4 to 1" wide.
- Resistance: Deer Resistant
- Pruning: Deadheading can prolong blooming time.
- Soil Requirement: Well drained, dry , infertile sandy soils. Doesn't like wet soils. Cannot compete with surface rooted trees.
- Watering Requirement: Keep consistently moist with good drainage. Reduce water frequency after the first year but be sure to water more often during warm, dry seasons.
- Additional Information: Medicinal properties to roots. Leaves and stems are supposed to be poisonous to animals.
