It's evergreen, so you don't have to think of something to take over in its off season, either. The needle-like foliage is bright green in spring, which looks great alongside classic spring blooms. Then, as it matures, it'll turn to a gorgeous dark green backdrop for your summer show. Because of the needle texture, deer tend not to go for Green Carpet Juniper. This juniper is tolerant of drought and dry, fast-draining soils, so it easily fits into a rock garden. Its deep green color looks exceptional against light grey or white stones.
