Product Description

This gigantic-leaved, bluish-silver hosta has only recently been made available to and through commercial growers. First hybridized by legendary New England grower Mildred Seaver, the remarkable Humpback Whale has been long sought-after for its gigantic dome of heart-shaped leaves. Hostas are prefer shade and damp conditions, but some hostas can also handle a little sun, so placing Humpback Whale is easy. Its leathery, silver-blue foliage emerges in early spring, and the large leaves of this jumbo hosta create excellent cover for fading foliage from flowering bulbs. In the heat of summer, the foliage transforms from a deep, icy shade to a greenish hue. Tall floral scapes with white, bell-shaped flowers add monochrome interest to this massive and majestic plant.
