Product Description

This is an exceptionally compact hybrid illicium. it's so bright and unusual, it really makes people stop for a closer look. The scarlet red flowers are produced abundantly over rich evergreen foliage. You'll enjoy a nice, lighter rebloom in summer. The plant is highly adaptable to different planting sites. It does well in a wide range of soils—once established it's drought tolerant, and alternatively it does well in wet sites. It's even great in a rain garden. Although Scorpio is best for part shade, it'll tolerate deeper shade too. It draws butterflies and other beneficial pollinators into your woodland garden, while the deer there aren't likely to be interested in this plant. Illicium x 'NCIH2'
