Peruvian lilies are excellent for this purpose, not only because they last so well in arrangements, but also because they are so easy to grow—requiring little more than good drainage and bright sunshine to thrive. Indian Summer is a particularly good cultivar to try because its compact habit makes staking a thing of the past—the stems are sturdy and straight and the flowers profuse. Funnel-shaped flowers in warm hues of rose red and yellow, flecked with cinnamon tops, open above the dark green-bronze foliage. This compact plant has a long bloom time.
