One of the most popular cultivated ferns, the Metallicum Japanese Painted Fern adds silvery highlights, accented with burgundy veins, to a dark or shady garden area. This purple Japanese fern features tuft-shaped arrays of fronds that appear to be delicately painted in a metallic silver. While you may think of shade plants as uniformly glossy and green, this light and lacy "painted lady" is the perfect plant to break up the monotony, and to infuse texture and serenity to shade gardens.
