When most people think about walking through a blooming summer garden, they think about crape myrtle's ruffled flowers that soak in the hot summers and give long-lasting floral color. Thanks to modern breeding, northern gardeners don't have to be jealous anymore. The groundbreaking Northern Belle series features crape myrtles that thrive—and even rebloom—all the way through chilly zone 5. We've trialed them in zone 6 with no winter protection and they've erupted with plentiful blooms the next season, no problem (we do suggest a heavy mulch at least in zone 5, however). In colder climates, these crape myrtles will die back during winter and grow new in spring, creating 3-4', colorful shrubs. In hotter zones they won't die back, so when we trialed them in California, they grew to a mature height of around 5'. You'll get three varieties in the trio, for a nice palette of pinks and purples, and different bloom times for a longer season. Lagerstroemia indica 'GARzarnobefu' PP31835, 'GARzarnowater' PP31836. 'GArzarnobemagen' PP31834
