Bright rose-red spikelets look as if they are glowing when backlit by a warm setting sun. Light green foliage turns a rich bronze color in fall with a slight bluish tint. Makes quite a show when planted en masse in an open meadow or a naturalized garden setting. Forms dense 12-18" clumps and will slowly spread by rhizomes. Grows 18-24" tall in full sun to partial shade. Zones 5-9. Eragrostis spectabilis

    Bought 2, one in the ground, the other in a pot. Both grew well in full sun, but the one in the ground grew about 50% larger. I did get some red color but not like the photos. I am hoping their second season will yield better color, but the shape and wisps on top are lovely.

    It is exactly or even better than it is described. After luxurious and abandon bloom dried branches can be used for flower arrangements. I decorated with them empty spots in my flower beds in early spring. Very easy to grow and spectacular view in fall!

    This is the prettiest of the small is just as pictured and can be divided.

    Planted two in early spring. Now they are about 2 1/2 feet tall and 2 feet wide. They are a rich green foilage now...looking forward to fall to see if they turn purple.
