Outstanding color changes with the seasons! This true dwarf produces incredible 9" long clusters of flowers in early summer in full sun or partial shade. Also thrives in heat, drought or poor soil, as long as it's well drained. Blossoms start out white and gradually turn pink then rose red as summer progresses. The color show continues into fall when the foliage turns burgundy. This bushy shrub grows only 3½-4' tall and 4-5' wide, and its large decorative leaves can withstand summer sun, strong wind and heavy rain. Zones 5-8. Hydrangea quercifolia 'Ruby Slippers'
Fantastic dwarf version of O.H. I moved 2 Alice O.H. that had overtaken my front yard blocking a window which forced me to prune hard each season after blooming and still got too big. I replaced with these in fall 16, they blasted off, blooming next growing season. Morning sun till 1:00 pm. Also put in 3 more in back at woodland edge and they get much more all day sun, they are even doing better! Will buy more this fall. Does attract Japanese beetles, like other O.H's, the only bug I have seen and was forced to spray. Branson, MO

Have had my Oakleaf Hydrangea for 2 - 3 yrs. now. Best shrub I have ever had, and I have had many. Blooming and color performance are outstanding!! The original large gorgeous blooms last from early summer till late fall, orchestrating their beautiful color changes all the while. At end of season, the blooms dry and can be used in table arrangements. What more can we expect from a flowering shrub??? NOTHING!!!

This plant does is as described in the conditions described but it takes a while to get there. Of the 3-4 of my first planting only one survived but now it is beautiful. The third year I saw the first blooms and at year 5 it is covered in blooms-cream, pink, and red. I now have 2 more surviving early summer 2015 planting. In the spirit of full disclosure, I am in Colorado and planted them on the north side of my house where they get cool shade and very hot sun. Winters are cold and vary from cold & dry to cold & wet.So Mother Nataure gives it a run for the money.I definitely encourage you to give it a try but be patient and you will eventually have a beautiful specimen.

I was very pleasantly surprise with this purchase. Packaging was excellent, This seedlings came as quite big plants , about 16 tall with lots of leafs and very healthy. I purchase 2 plants, and now are growing in their permanent place for a few weeks looking great!! I'll definitely purchase again from this nursery !!!

These are the most excellent shrubs. I bought three of them two years ago and last year not much happened and I was disappointed but this year, they are blooming like crazy!! I am an avid Master Gardener and was not expecting them to be this showy or to change colors but they are turning pink now so hopefully I will have bloom for awhile! Good selection Spring Hill, for once you got it right!!
