This brand new lilac is not only cold hardy, mildew resistant and incredibly fragrant, but it has an unprecedented low chill factor, so it will grow and ¬ flower in southern areas; in fact, it will flower reliably in zones 9 and 10. If that weren't enough, it is a beautiful lilac! Growing 8-12' tall and 6-8' wide, with large clusters of intensely fragrant white blooms in late spring. Easy and undemanding, it is not picky as to soil type, but needs good drainage. It was a serendipitous find 50 years ago by Nellis McNeil, then head of propagation for Armstrong Nurseries in California. After a long and winding road, it has been rediscovered, and Spring Hill is happy to offer it to American gardeners. Full sun. Zones 4-10. Ships in 4" pot. Syringa vulgaris 'Snowy Beach Party'
