Most roses produce hips, but rarely do we let the flowers give way to fruit. They get deadheaded long before that. Rugosa roses are the ones gardeners let grow hips, because there's no beating their taste—especially the delightful sweet–tart flavor of Sweet Hips. The fruit's texture is nice and firm.
