  • A peony garden that can last decades with little maintenance
Our experts put our best peonies together—6 peony plants in total—to explore unique benefits of the peony. Each cultivar does something particularly well; focuses on award–winning performance, unusual flower forms and the most extravagant perfumes. For the true connoisseur, The Works provides the best value. It features nearly every flower type the peony has to offer, and promises you a complete, one–of–a–kind peony garden. These peonies are disease and deer resistant, mildly to very fragrant, and produce some of the best cut flowers available. Their blooms appear in late spring, with each individual variety blooming for an average of 8–10 days. The lush foliage stays attractive throughout the season. Like most long–lived perennials, it can take a few years for them to produce masses of blooms, but with a little patience you'll be rewarded by a lifetime of flowers.

Peonies have few requirements: give them a sunny well-drained location, plant 2-4' apart, with the eyes (new buds at the crown) no more than 2" below soil level and apply fertilizer or compost in spring. They take a while to establish, often 3 years before the first bloom—but the wait is worth it. They are heirloom quality. Let them grow undisturbed and they will bring joy to you and your loved ones through the decades.
