Chosen specifically for its spectacular color and large 4" flowers, this deep purple beauty features snowy white bars across each velvety petal and is accented by dark purple stamens. When in full bloom during the June to September flowering period, the effect is nothing short of dazzling. Sturdy plant grows 8-10' tall and is one of the most reliable bloomers in the clematis family. Makes a fantastic privacy screen, as well as a resplendent arbor variety. Flowers appear on new, current year's growth. Prune gently in early spring. Prefers a sunny location with well-drained neutral to alkaline soil. For best results, keep roots cool with shade or mulch.
