Product Description

Nyssa sylvatica is a plant of many names—and this variety offers many personalities, too. Called black gum, black tupelo, or sour gum, this is deciduous tree is native to the United States and well suited to American gardens. Lush and shiny green leaves make this a beautiful summertime tree, while the fiery fall colors of yellow-orange and scarlet are an autumn wonder. This tree has been said to bring even brighter colors to the fall landscape than the beloved sugar maple. The most interesting characteristic comes after the leaves fall. This variety of black gum holds contorted branches that create a highly decorative and unusual conversation piece, particularly in winter when they are most visible. A beautiful specimen tree, Zydeco Twist Black Gum is a zig-zagging specimen that will perform in your landscape for years. Nyssa sylvatica 'Zydeco Twist'
