The opening is 1¼", ideal for safely housing small birds like chickadees and titmice. Leading up to it are ?" deep grooves, which help tiny claws gain purchase on their way into the house. There are also air holes along the upper sides and drainage holes along the bottom to keep the environment clean and healthy. When the season is done, unclasp the side panel for easy cleaning.
